Born into a farmer's family
I am Suresh Kumar, son of Shri Bishan Dass, from the village of Pharwal.
Growing up in a village taught me some of the most important lessons of my life: the value of hard work, the dignity of simplicity, the importance of helping others, and the strength that comes from standing together as a community.
Even today, when I see children playing in the lanes of Pharwal, students going to school, young people working hard to build their future, or families trying to improve their lives, I see the village I grew up in. I see the future of the community I belong to.
That is what motivates me.
I hold a Master's degree in Education and a B.Ed., and that background shapes the way I look at society.
Education comes first
Education is not simply about a degree or a job.
It gives a person the confidence to think, the ability to make informed decisions, and the opportunity to change the circumstances they were born into. This is why the education of the young generation is my foremost priority.
If we want a better Pharwal, a better Narot Jaimal Singh and a better society, we must begin with our children.
A child who receives a good education can change the future of an entire family. An educated, skilled and confident generation can change the future of a community.
Young people in rural areas have dreams as big as anyone else's. What they need is not only advice. They need opportunities, encouragement, guidance and someone who believes in them. Sometimes they lack access to resources, and that is why I focus my work on them.
Opportunities for our young people
Education is no longer confined to a classroom. A student can learn from an online lecture, use a digital library, prepare for an examination or pick up a new skill, but only with access to technology.
Free Wi-Fi for students
I have supported free Wi-Fi connectivity for students in Pharwal. It tells them: "The world of knowledge is open to you too." Where a child lives should never limit their ambitions.
Nasha Mukt Yatra
I have actively taken part in the Nasha Mukt Yatra and other awareness activities that encourage young people to stay away from drugs and substance abuse.
Sports kits
Awareness alone is not enough. Young people need something positive to pursue, so I have encouraged sports and supported youth in the Narot Jaimal Singh area with sports kits.
I want young people spending their time on the playground, in educational activities, building skills and careers, not falling into harmful habits.
Serving Pharwal as Sarpanch
I do not look at this as simply a position. It is a chance to give something back to the village that gave me my identity. A Sarpanch cannot solve every problem overnight, but sincere effort, transparency, community participation and persistence can bring meaningful change.
During my tenure, efforts have gone into improving basic facilities:
- Cleanliness and sanitation
- Road development
- Street lighting
- Digital connectivity for students
- Youth and sports activities
- Awareness about government schemes
- Housing support for eligible families
They look like different areas, but they share one goal: a better environment for our people and, especially, for our children.
A clean village is about health, dignity and the environment we create for our children. Keeping it clean is a shared responsibility.
Development is not always extraordinary. Sometimes it means making a road better, putting a light on a dark street, helping a student get internet access, or listening to someone who needs help.
Secure homes for families
A home is more than four walls. It represents security, dignity and hope. Through efforts under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, houses are being built for families in Pharwal.
The 2026 houses are subject to applicable government procedures and approvals.
Behind every house is a family. Behind every family is a story. And behind every story is a hope for a better tomorrow.
Knowing which schemes are available
Many people in rural areas are not aware of the government schemes and programmes open to them. Often the problem is not the absence of a scheme but a lack of awareness.
I am running an awareness campaign in Pharwal and neighbouring villages, helping people learn about government schemes and encouraging eligible residents to seek information and assistance through the proper channels. An informed person is an empowered person.
Bhagat Foundation Trust
Every child deserves an opportunity to learn and dream.
My commitment to children and education led me to establish the Bhagat Foundation Trust. Some children are talented and hardworking, but their families struggle to provide basic educational necessities. Society has a responsibility towards them.
Through the foundation, I aim to support children and families who need assistance, and to create educational opportunities for those who might otherwise be left behind.
Social service is not about recognition. It is about knowing that somebody's life became a little easier because you chose to help.
What my farmer roots taught me
Farmers teach us that nothing worthwhile happens overnight. I see community development the same way.
- A seed is planted todayWe start something, and may not see its full impact right away.
- We work, wait and face difficultiesWe keep believing in the result and continue with sincerity.
- The harvest comes laterThe next generation sees the results.
It is the same with education. When we educate a child, we may not see the change immediately. Years later, that child may become:
- a teacher
- a doctor
- an engineer
- an entrepreneur
- an administrator
- a farmer
- a social worker
- a community leader
That is the real return on our investment in education.
My dream for our children
I want the children of Pharwal and surrounding villages to grow up believing their dreams are possible.
I want a child from our village to have access to knowledge, technology and opportunities. I want our young people to be proud of their roots while being prepared to compete in the wider world. Most importantly, I want them to believe in themselves.
- Educationoverignorance
- Sportsoverdrugs
- Skillsoverdependency
- Opportunityoverhopelessness
The greatest development project we can undertake is the development of our young people.
Looking forward
There is still much more to be done. There will always be another road to improve, another family to support, another student who needs guidance and another young person who needs encouragement.
One person cannot change everything. But one person can begin something, and a community can take it forward. My journey is not about claiming everything has been achieved. It is about continuing to work, to listen, to learn and to serve.
My focus will continue to be: education, youth empowerment, sports, social welfare, digital access and community development.
When we educate our children, we prepare them for life. When we empower our youth, we strengthen the entire community. When we serve our village, we build the foundation for the future.
